About Trades 2 – Carpenter Role In City of Burnaby
This role is in charge of cabinet making work in an auxiliary capacity at the journeyman level which involves the use of various tools in performing advanced carpentry and specialized related tasks.
The Trades 2 – Carpenter in the city of Burnaby will be in charge of performing the more skilled carpentry work involved in such tasks as building construction, office furniture construction, and skilled cabinet making duties, and may be assigned to supervise assistants performing similar work.
The incumbent will construct and repair buildings, design and build specialized wooden equipment used for public works, cut and install window glass, estimate time and materials needed for assignments, supervise carpentry assistants in advanced tasks, and execute related tasks as required.
The successful candidate will show a thorough knowledge of standard practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment that are used in carpentry.
The Trades 2 Carpenter should have the knowledge of hazards and safety precautions of the trade; knowledge of the requirements of the various departments regarding equipment design and the ability for how to read and work from blueprints.
Qualifications
Qualifications include completion of Grade 12 supplemented by the completion of a recognized Trade Certificate of Qualification along with considerable general experience at the level of a journeyman; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
