As a temporary, on-call delivery agent also referred to as a letter carrier, you’ll represent Canada Post in your community and ensure that customers and businesses get their expected mail and parcels.

Letter Carrier – Delivery Agent Responsibilities

An ideal Letter Carrier – Delivery Agent will start the day in the depot with sorting and preparing the day’s deliveries. Load and drive a Canada Post postal vehicle and then spend most of the day outside on delivering mail and packages by foot and by vehicle to customers on the assigned route, before returning to the depot so as to unload the day’s incoming mail and packages for the next set of deliveries.

Letter Carrier – Delivery Agent Qualifications

Ideally, a Letter Carrier – Delivery Agent must have:

  1. A valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s license along with a safe driving record a minimum of 3 years (driver’s abstract required)
  2. Physical strength to be able to lift mail items that weigh up to 22.7 kg (50 lb) and carry items that weigh up to 15.9 kg (35 lb) regularly daily.
  3. Capability to adjust to working through any type of weather
  4. The flexibility to be on-call
  5. Ability to read, write and speak English and/or French
  6. A background in customer service
  7. Prior experience with deliveries or working as a driver
